Over the last week, I have been researching the benefits of CBD oil and how this golden oil can benefit your hair. After a lot of research, I was surprised to find that there is not a lot of products on the market that involve hair care.
There is a lot of product with hemp oil but hemp oil is different from CBD oil. Hemp oil is the seeds of the cannabis plant and the oil is extracted by crushing the seeds.
CBD is extracted differently. CBD is one of many cannabinoids and is extracted from the leaves and stalks of the cannabis plant but in its natural state, it has high levels THC this is the stuff that makes you as high as a kite.
Now CBD in its natural state is not legal so the THC has to be extracted useing a technique where CO2 is used to get rid of the THC leaving CBD oil which then is mixed with different oils such as coconut oil (MCT oil ) this Is then safe to bottle and comes in different strengths.
I have been working with a company called Puregenics where they have naturally mastered the procedure and is farmed in Spain where the conditions are much better than the UK.
Puregenics is new to the market but can offer premium oils and better strengths than your local drugstore.
Now, what has this got to do with hair?
Well here come the benefits of CBD oil...
Now CBD oil is taken internally and dropped under the tongue where it is absorbed into your body giving you a calmer state of mind and can help with anxiety depression and much more CBD oil is still in the early days of research and there are lots more scientific studies going on behind the scene so you can expect to see CBD oil in a lot of products in the future.
Now the benefits for hair are amazing and as I could not get hold of a product with CBD oil I decided to make my own using my starter bottle of oil from Puregenics and making it into a hair balm we can come back to that later.
CBD oil is High in vitamin E and fatty acids, CBD Oil nourishes the scalp and strengthens hair so this is good for you over bleachers. CBD oil also encourages hair growth and is full of omega-3, omega-6 and the omega-9 acids, which scientific research has said it can help improve the quality of the scalp tissue.
Stronger scalp tissue means the hair follicles are able to expand meaning only one thing longer healthier hair. (AMAZING)
Now as I said earlier I was not able to find a product on the market that I could test and be happy with the results so I used my own using natural ingredients and 100mg of CBD oil provided by Puregenics. I will leave a link below for more information. Now let me put out there I am not a chemist or a scientist I just love testing and researching products and if you have read my blog you know I like to mess around in the kitchen.
To make my balm I used 100% natural ingredients from livemore as you can buy cosmetic grade produce. So I used avocado butter, pressed coconut oil, 100mg of CBD oil which is 1ml out of a 1000mg of strength from a 10ml starter bottle and to add an extra calming and relaxing element some natural lavender oil. I mixed this all together in a glass bowl after measuring out what I needed and gently heated and I was left with a golden oil once cooled to room temperature it becomes a balm very similar to a lip balm. I then used this product for a week and my hair did feel different.
I thought my hair would feel greasy but it went on beautifully as when it touches your fingers it melts leaving it easy to apply sinking into my hair effortlessly and my hair has been through the mills recently soon as lockdown boredom made me do all sort of naughty things to my hair.
I did find my hair was stronger and shiney my scalp I feel is heathy for the experience and seems weirdly softer then usual which can only be a good thing.
To sum it up I am excited for the future of CBD oil and I will continue to use pure genics amazing CBD oil internally and externally in the future.
I hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog. You can also follow me on Instagram at 4knowyourhair also massive shout out to Puregenics for my starter bottle give them a follow at (puregenicscbd) and to get your own starter bottle head over to www.puregenics.com where there is currently a sale so don’t miss out on a bargain.
This test has been carried out to share my research and knowledge on CBD oil and my opinion and experience. I am unable to make any medical claims at all about CBD.
What is the curly girl method...
So as we all no over the past couple of months things have been SHIT to put it frankly and we are all busy trying to get back some normality.
I am excited to be back to work and now have more time to blog and review products to give you the low down on the latest trend and so on...
Let us get straight to the point on why I have reviewed the curly girl method or as I think it should be called education for curly hair. Now we all no with a little research and little practise we can train our selves. My opinion is all this is a very clever detailed instruction Manuel that has been created by Lorraine Massey to educate the nation on unruly hair. (Great)
He's where it goes a bit wrong now that companies have cottoned on they are releasing starter kits for that 30day curl bla, bla, blah and its no-poo doo.
Also here comes the Chinese whispers I was told by a lady the other day that has been following this method that she wanted to use her products. She pulled out 2 products from her bag and pop them on the side.
Here they are...
Now I might not be a scientist but I can say without any pauses that this product is not natural or naturally derived from the flower form. Propane, butane and fragrancies to hide the fact that this product actually should be banned from your bathroom cabinet. Now when this product was in view I decided to let her explain why this product was good to use in the method that is supposed to be free from paraben, sulphates and harmful chemicals. The answer was as aspected it was on the approved products list. Now I decided to do some research and there is an ingredients analyser where you enter the product ingredients and it tells you if it's safe and I am sorry to say this product is not safe. So let's make sure we are following the rules.
Now, this product is defiantly approved and after a quick sniff, I decided to do some research at £12.00 this product will help define your curl and comes in different sizes and smells slightly minty. I have recently used this product my self and I can say that this product is (know your hair approved) and is free of silicones, sulphates and Parabens. My favourite ingredient is spearmint which has a soothing and cooling effect helping to calm the scalp and your need if you going to continue to use Pantene curl mousse.
So the method has worked for thousands of people but this trend is education and understanding your hair. Don't get carried away with Chinese whispers and Instagram icons remember the following rules
Don't forget to prep using a good clarifying shampoo get all those bad chemicals out.
Throw away all them random shampoos you have collected over the years. The reason for this is because your more educated now you understand why there are harsh, drying sulphates and ammonium laureate sulphate which will only make your hair frizzy.
Let's go shopping, time to do your research lets get online and get the goods.
You will need the following.
• Leave-in Conditioner
• Gels / Mousse to help define those curls
Let's go get a hair cut, lets cut them ends off. PS...You don't need to go to some crazy expensive salon that has been curly girl trained your having the ends cut off not a full restyle go to a salon you are comfortable and explain your new routine.
Time to start your new routine and don't forget when drying your hair keep the heat low.
For more info, you can google search curl and your be inundated.
Here are some product that can help you on your way
