As you are probably aware the Hair & Beauty industry will hopefully be up and running from July and pre-booking is on everyone's mind or to do list
So what can you expect?
Well, there's has been lots of speculation into what the new rules are and what services will be able to go ahead. There seems to be talk of no talking and conversation to be limited well I can tell you now as a Stylist this will be pretty hard as listening to clients requests is a fundamental part to consultation and you all know how I feel about consultation.
Services will be limited again another speculation is that we as a stylist can only provide a limited collection of services to limit the time spent in the salon. I feel that a good hair wash is a key reason for clients to relax and enjoy a good head rub and to ensure all colour has been correctly removed so I am uncertain on a colour dash service. For those unsure what this Service provides, it involves a quick colour slapped on your roots then hurrying you out the door to complete your wash and style at home. HMMMMM. I can see a lot going wrong with this such as colours not developing correctly or over toning if not washed at the correct time or if a reaction was to occur while you are on your way home. let not hold our breath on that becoming popular.
Yes, a dry cut will be put on hold so we are told but I feel this is a good idea as I like to see the hair in it natural state. Meaning no dry shampoo, gel, mousse, hairspray build-ups and also the hair once washed will allow the stylist to work more accurately meaning a better hair cut. But that is my own opinion. Not sure about how the gents will feel about this one.
We as an industry no the importance of welcoming you all back and making the environment as safe as possible allowing you to have a clean and safe visit.
Top tip please leave your coats and bags at home bring only what you need to limit the risk of cross-contamination oh and don't forget your mask.
If you wish to enquire about future appointments please send me an email with your name number and service required and I will be in contact with you as soon as possible.
See you all soon in the salon.
Top tips for home colouring 2020
Now as we are now aware that it's going to be another 5 weeks till we can get back in the chair. Know Your Hair has your back with the top tips in home colouring. The thing is it goes against all that I believe in as a professional hairdresser. However, with the current situation, we are not able to stick with the rules.
So here we go I no my blog might be too late for you clients that have already taken the home colouring leap but I really thought as a nation we would be busy sorting out bowl cuts and some crazy colouring disaster believe me I have heard a few. The best advice I can give at this stage is to go and contact your hairdresser and get your record card if this is possible what you want is the shade you normally have.
The second trick is to stop googling crazy hair colours and creating a dramatic new change believe me the number of times I heard I just bought a base 5 and it nearly black when the client was blonde, to begin with.
So you got your record card so whats next. So, for example, your colour record says your shade is an 8.3 you properly think what the hell is that. Don’t panic I have found the best way to make this easy to understand. So you online or your in the supermarket and you pick up what you think is the right colour if I was in the supermarket with you I would stop you immediately before you even start shopping is your colour semi or permeant this is so important.
Here is a quick test go to your mirror and take a good look at your roots.
Now to understand this simply if your dark with grey then this is very simple for you. In your case, your colour record might say for example 5.31 you no that if you bye a 5.31 in the supermarket it's going to be very dark I would go a shade lighter always as many companies add more pigment to there colours so it lasts longer.
Now if you're looking in the mirror and see blonde hair but dark root this may be a little bit harder as this will involve lifting your hair to the shade that blends your roots. However there are a couple of options you can try and blend with some makeshift highlights to blend, or its a blonde box dye that might go a bit warm at the roots in my own opinion I would leave it and wait for a professional but of course, this is up to you.
A great tip for blondes with dark root always grab a shade lighter and always stay with ash tones this is your ash blondes normal indicated with a (1) in many colour charts.
