Thick & Fine Hair

8/6/2019

To all my readers out there I have worked with so many different hair types and have seen so many heads and many styles but I have all so had the pleasure to gain experiences with different textures and hair density.

Firstly question you need to ask your self are you a thick?
 or are you a fine?

Understanding this is hard at first but ask your hairdresser for an honest opinion again before the scissors leave the side you need to ensure the hairdresser has got your best interests at heart. First of all is your hair suitable for the style you have chosen do you have a deep parting is it thicker one side than the other?

Also, the hairdresser is not going to turn up to your house every morning and style your hair so what might look nice in the chair may not be the case when you next come to wash and dry your hair.

Remember the following when you are looking for a change.

Fine hair does not always need a layer to give body because when you add layers it takes the weight away leaving your hair feeling even thinner.

Fine hair is undesirable god knows why because its less maintenance here's why

Find a product that suits your hair.

Maintenance / Quick to dry easy to style, so why are you not realising this secret.

1. Shampoo / Conditioner do they make your hair lank and grease? Try and conditioner in between shampoo, not every time your hair is fine to remember hair can only hold so much so over conditioning only weighing the hair down.

2. Thickening agents do you have one? This is a great way of making the appearance of your hair thicker again great for a night out but too much can weigh the hair down find one that suits you or ask your hairdresser and trial before rushing out.

3. Are you using a clean brush and the right brush? Make sure you clean your brush and ensure it is not broken or seen better days. Over time your brush build up can cause damage and make hair brittle. The way I look at this is are you pulling your hair through the brush or is it effortless gliding through. Hot soapy water normally does the trick for a good clean. 🧽

We all want what we don't have for example my clients will have the most beautiful curly hair and she told me it's too much, I want my hair straight and vice versa and the loop continues.

Embrace you're fine hair you don't know how lucky you are!

Thick Hair ok my lovely people you are in my opinion more of a challenge do you agree?

The reason for my answer is very simple to move the weight to where you like it the most for example if you have layers are they sitting in the right place.

Layering is a technique in which weight is moved to the back or to the front the difference is the style and technique and a bloody good consultation with your stylist.

1. Drying time is a massive issue for you guys so work smart not hard. Find a Serum my favourite is by Paul Mitchell the product  helps cut down your drying time Super Skinny reduces your blowing drying time bye half believe me it's true I use this daily I will add a link below but there are so many different products on the market so it is personal preference.

2. Hair masks and conditioners thick hair gets dry quicker so make sure you are using a good hair mask to keep in the moisture in. Leave for 5 mins and give a really good rinse. Don't overdo it, once a fortnight is a good idea for a hair mask too much and you get the risk of a build-up of chemicals like silicons and Parabens that acts as a pressure cooker only damaging your hair further.

3. Girls, you have a lot of hair so why use a hairdryer that does not suit your hair get a powerful hairdryer you can actually use without the arm ache my advice here to you is to get one with good strong air flow and that is very fast and powerful believe me when I say your thank me in the long run so no more £15.00 Argos dryers do your research like I said work smart not hard.

Enjoy what you have and embrace the thick locks with a style that's right for you not what's easier for your hairdresser.
